Ryan Lemond was born in the state of Indiana where the love for sports runs deep, however while those around him were rooting for Indiana University, Purdue University or the University of Notre Dame, Lemond’s loyalty lied with University of Kentucky.
Lemond’s love for Kentucky basketball started as a child when he began watching the team play on channel seven in Evansville, Indiana. Through watching Kyle Macy on TV, Lemond realized just how passionate he was about basketball and from that moment, he wanted to be the next Macy.
While his dreams of playing for University of Kentucky did not pan out how he had hoped, he did end up having a very successful college baseball career at Kentucky Wesleyan College. At Kentucky Wesleyan, Lemond went on to set the record for all time stolen base records in a game, season and career.
Despite having a promising college baseball career, Lemond’s true love lied with basketball.
“I loved basketball the most because my dad was a high school coach and I grew up going to the gym with him, but I was better at baseball,” said Lemond.
His love for basketball followed him into adulthood and through his career. Lemond started out working in the television industry in Evansville, Indiana, but his dream job was to work in Louisville, Kentucky where he could cover not only University of Kentucky, but also University of Louisville and Indiana University sports.
Lemond moved to Lexington, Kentucky, in 1996 to take a job in television working in sports. He later left the television industry and began working in real estate, but sports still played a huge role in his life. During this time Lemond became a part of Kentucky Sports Radio where he still works today alongside Matt Jones.
